Julia is a journalist and author by profession. Her father is from India, and her mother came to Germany as a late repatriate at the age of ten. Despite this, she wasn't aware for a long time that she had a ‚migration background‘ – after all, she was born and raised in Germany. It was only when she became a journalist in India that she consciously engaged with the topic. In her first book, „Sag mir nicht, wer ich bin“ (Tell me not who I am) (2022, dtv), she explores, between India and Germany, how identity is socially constructed and how global the ideas we have of each other are. The process showed her how therapeutic and exciting it can be to talk to one's own parents about their history – also to learn from it for the future. This is just one reason why WHO CARED is close to her heart. Within the team, Julia keeps track of everything and handles all matters related to text.
